Google Just Made Free AI Training Available to Every US Teacher ๐
Google announced the AI Educator Series โ a free monthly training programme targeting all 6 million US teachers. Launched at ISTE 2026, the series covers practical use of Gemini, NotebookLM, and Google Classroom AI tools, with new modules dropping every month.
The initiative comes as research shows 85% of educators already use AI informally in their teaching โ but without any structured training. Google is partnering with ISTE to build the curriculum and plans to expand beyond the US in late 2026.
The gap between "AI adoption" and "AI competence" in schools is enormous. Giving 6 million teachers structured, free, ongoing training could be the single highest-leverage EdTech investment of this decade โ and it costs teachers nothing.
This is the kind of systemic move that doesn't make flashy headlines but quietly changes everything. If even 20% of those teachers apply one new AI technique in their classroom, that's millions of students who learn differently by September.
